Who all is interested in a badlands run next weekend? If it's Saturday the 18th I would not make it out till 1sh cause I have to work. Now Sunday is wide open so let me know what works best? @fjen@jeepconvert@IndyBC@Muddy45
Just realized it would be cool to go this weekend, I won't be able to next weekend. Have another commitment.
Also, got a message from Randy earlier (green jeep guy that went with us a few times last year). He is healed up and itching to get out but can only go on Saturdays.
If we can get some people together even starting later in the day Saturday, that would be great! Keep in mind us members get until 9 pm!
I may have to run down to Indy to pick up a new wheel Saturday morning, ugh. Will probably have to fill some of you in on that story.
Randy (green jeep guy) said he's in too! :grin
I just recommend not going to Pizza Hut again afterwards. Cory and Brian have misbehaved there now twice and I don't want to eat food that has been spat upon!

Now you have peaked my interest!!! Cold adult beverages and what I hope will be good pub food. You think Brian and Cory can behave in the pub? Hahahaha
You do not know us but we would like to come and "observe". Our FJ is all stock but am trying to get ideas on what to do to it to make it even more off road worthy plus find out where the off road parks are.
Will be coming from central Ohio if anyone else decides to go from this area.
Drove the '13 FJ for about a week after buying a couple months ago. The dealer had it in the showroom it is so clean. Been in storage since after the first week of driving.
Gary, Nancy and Molly the Labradoodle
Which reminds me, their site does not say if dogs are allowed, anyone know?
I think dogs are fine. There are a couple that just show up in the quarry, anyway. A stock FJ will do 90% of the stuff out there without much worry. You'll be fine on all the "trails" and the crick. The two step and the waterfall may scuff the link mounts, but other than that, you'll have no issues.
Have Bridgestone. Molly will come with us, she tolerates the Moab roads. Picked up the FJ last night from storage and in 5 miles back home was tailgated by 2 different jeeps. Jeeesh....can't we all just get along....
Badlands is definitely the best place within reason. Haspin in southwest IN may be a bit closer but it's not great for the FJs. There is a place up near Cleveland called Southington that looks good but I've never been to. They are limited on when they are open. Might be a bit tight in spots for FJs from the looks of the trails, similar to Redbird SRA in south-central IN. Dirty Turtle is about an hour southwest of Cincy in KY, though I heard that's a bit rough too. There's a new place in southern MI someone went to, old quarry like the Badlands. They're still working on trails but it looks like it could be a lot of fun.
Not a park, but Ohio 4x4 group hits unmaintained township roads in southern Ohio. I've run with them a couple times on Novice rides and it's a lot of fun.
Just keep in mind, midwest offroading means lots of pinstriping...branch marks all over. They mostly buff out, but they are pretty much unavoidable if you want to do any real amount of offroading.
Had a great time today! Here are a few pics I snagged.
Look at those lights!!!
It was some "jeep" day...
They were like flies buzzing around and always in the way
Then there were these jokers:
And yes that was a stock Ford Explorer.
And the Land Rover that left half its tires on the rock and the rear bumper behind.
Jeepconvert thinking about the deep mud puddle.
Then getting close to nature
We had a tundra tag along
Very tight squeeze
FJen trying the log ride
Jeepconvert trying to make the tube
The water is kinda deep
After I made it out of the tube and yes the water was deep
FJen entering the tube
Look at those lights!
Warning large drop ahead
Please check your pants before exiting the vehicle
@jeepconvert, have you noticed that your ARB LEDs look yellow head on but white or clear at an angle? (Of course this is when they are not on.) I guess you can only see the diode head on and it's yellow.
Thanks for showing us a good time, we will be back for sure! Nancy was apprehensive at first, even got out and walked around one obstacle where she thought we might tip over. Later she said we needed bigger tires and wandered how much a "lift" cost. Another convert on a slippery slope...
