Silver Lake would be a nice change from the muck and mud we're all getting used to! Maybe we could look into that for an August run? It'll be warm and a beach outing would really be a good time!
August is fine. Usually a little more predictable weather. Remind me later in the year and I'll help get this together. I have family in the area and we can camp for free!!
Heya Phil,
How about the Renaissance Faire in Kenoshe, WI ??? A run with fun for the whole family. It's not wheeling, but it is a lot of fun. My wife, kid and I went last summer. It will be open every weekend between July 5 - September 1, 2008. Bristol RenFair
Hey all Im new to the site n fairly new to wheelin. Ive been muddin a lot but other than that nothin real serious. Id like to get in on some stuff in the IL/WI area but I have no idea what the places/events you guys are talkin about are. So any info you can give me would be much appreciated. Also couple questions: first my FJ is totally stock except for a bull bar n some stereo stuff, will I be able to make it through most of the runs? Second is there any thing I gotta gotta have or bring? Third I dont have a CB, do I need to get one before I go on any runs or am I ok w out one? Any help info would be great.

Secure that bar on and we can drag you round. There is a mix of trails from what I have seen, just don't try the earth moving tire run (Phil) yet.
Bring a sense of humor, and a change of clothes, coffee and doughnuts. Depends on where you go really.
CB is nice to have, I have one now but also off the shelf 2 way things.

Sounds like a decent idea! Let us know when you're thinking of doing it!

Welcome aboard Bone! The first thing to do is get rid of the stock tires and get some decent all-terrains. They make the FJ much more capable than you'd think. Check this thread out for info on Off-road kits. GROUP TRAIL RUNS: Necessitites for First-Timers
LCS did a great job putting it together and has the new folks in mind! Remember, if you don't have it, somebody you're wheeling with does, just check with everybody first. I have everything he mentions plus a lot more. So does everybody else on here! You add onto your kit as you go and what you find your needs are. (Big honkin' zip ties are my friend!) The other thing to remember is to have an open mind and challenge yourself! The pucker factors are not as bad as they seem, you're just not used to it.

I did that tire crawl with stock suspension, Revo's and ATrac! I bet anyone can do it stock! The whole key is getting spotted correctly! Right Joe? lol
You're right on the mark with everything else Simon! The most important thing is the coffee! Never ever forget the coffee!

I am open on the 13th, I can only do half a day. The Wife leaves for a couple of day the next day.
Do we have a calendar setup somewhere?
I know Simon had a calendar function set up on his sig line. Maybe he'd be kind enough to add the 13th? We can call it a Meet N Greet Breakfast with some light wheeling tossed in! Rig57 had all the info last time so maybe he'd be kind enough to post it up here! Anyone have issues with the 13th?
I'll be posting some new stuff on the Club thread shortly so you guys can read up there!
