I lost my mind...

I've gone on IH8Mud.com too often and caught something. The only cure is another Cruiser. So I just pulled the trigger on an 89 FJ62 w/ 195k miles. I'm happier than Gumby doing a Birf job! Speaking of which...it needs one!

It has the following:
1989 FJ62 Toyota Landcruiser.
196k miles.
Automatic transmission.
Push-button 4WD.
A/C and heater work great, CD player with detachable face.
Power windows/locks still work, but they can be tricky sometimes.
Radiator and water pump replaced.
Still have original manual, spare tire kit.
No dents, good chrome.
Some rust – car was garaged for first 10 years.
Upholstery has some typical wear – small tear on driver’s seat and few stains
There is a slow leak in the Brake Master Cylinder.

Took a few shots of the 62 as well. It's pretty damned clean for a 19 year old LC! There are only 2 areas of concern regarding rust. The drivers side door has 2 quarter sized areas of bubbled paint and the rear passenger cargo area. I'll let the pics speak for themselves.

Needless to say I will be needing mad mod money!

Re: I lost my mind...

Thanks! Looking to take it from a DD to a mild/moderate trail rig. I'd like to do a SOA, 3" lift and disc brake conversion for now. The first task is to go over it and make it solid mechanically. Runs a little rough but nothing a BFH and screwdriver couldn't fix!

Re: I lost my mind...

Your 3FE motor is easy to work on and fairly bulletproof. Get a factory service manual on ebay, it is the best by far. Also, there is a great 3FE mailing list on Yahoo Groups with good archives and lots of help. Congrats on your purchase

Re: I lost my mind...

Phil, great find! It looks like it's in great shape for a northern vehicle. The only downside is that Kerry/Edwards sticker in the rear window. Enjoy the new toy!

Re: I lost my mind...

Is this a local vehicle? I noticed the Asheville, North Carolina (AVL) sticker and was wondering if it was a transplant. Our winters are not as extreme as yours, so we use less salt on the roads. Does that explain the great body condition or were the prior owners super clean freaks? Garage or not, someone took great pride in a very great ride. Congratulations on the find!

Re: I lost my mind...

I've subscribed to the 3FE forum months ago and like what I've read about them so far! It's as tough as my Ford 300 motor was! The first thing I did was order a FSM direct from Toyota Publishing!I have the number if you're interested!

The previous owner is the daughter of the original owner and states the rig was taken care of meticulously! She also stated that it had to be special ordered since her dad was in the military and they were overseas at the time it was ordered. As to where this rig resided I'm unsure. I know it was a dry climate because the frame is quite clean.

I'll be heading out to the garage to make room for it and get prepped for some mods. I'm really stoked about this because it means more time with my boy doing something together!

Re: I lost my mind...

Awesome rig Phil! You are on the right track with an SOA, but I would do it with the original springs first before adding additional lift. Slap on some 35s or 37s with some Longs, and you'll be dangerous .
