Chicagoland Toyota Jamboree - Planning Dept.

One of our scheduled events this year is the Chicagoland Toyota Jamboree July 25-27 at the Cliff's. We, as a club, have been asked to participate in this large event to make it successful! This is after all being held at our "home field" and I feel we should do whatever we can to make it happen. 4Rnr (John) ran this event on his own last year and did pretty well.

Here's what we need. Volunteers! I'm not going to ask you to spend 3 days working this event. I'm only going to ask a couple hours of your time making things happen. Whether it's leading a group on a trail ride or flipping burgers we're going to need you! Details are a ways off but I wanted to get everyone thinking about pitching in someway or somehow.

You don't have to post up now! I'll up date this thread over time and give the details as they are available. In the meantime look at your calenders and make some time for a very worthwhile event!

Re: Chicagoland Toyota Jamboree - Planning Dept.

Thanks Phil

Im looking to get more trail leaders. 25% of the rigs last year ran the harder stuff and had a blast. 50% of the rigs last year ran trail 1 & 3. 25% of the rigs also ran 1 & 3 and probably should have been on 10.... but they wanted to get their feet wet on 1 first. BUT there were 2 groups running 1, (about 15-20 rigs each) these groups crawled and it took all day for them to stand around on 1. If this year I can send more small groups around the easy and intermediate stuff then more people will spend more time on different trails.

SO this is what I need. I need guys to familiarize themselves with the intermediate and easy trails. Use the GPS's or whatever and try to pay attention to potential runs for stock to intermediate trucks while you wheel the cliffs before the jambo. Like whatever trails Tom lead you guys down on oct 20th. There are alot of little trails out there that even I dont know where they are.

If you are interested in leading a group, then pay attention on the trails this year and find A trail or route that you would like to run a few times on saturday. Closer to the event we can figure out who should lead what.

Also food

You all can blame Phil for offering to get you guys into this

Seriously I dont think it will be bad, it is just too much for me to handle with everything else. So you guys are in charge of food (Phil and whoever he recruites) Just some burgers and dogs, plates, pop, chips...... the usual is all I have in mind, but then again its all your show, so if you want lobster......well actually no lobster. Once we get an initial figure on cost I will adjust the admission a couple bucks to compensate for the food.

Yes, you can do what everybody else does. Blame me! lol The food is not rocket science and doing some initial figures I'd need about 4-5 more folks to help me out. (I wouldn't volunteer the group unless I stood first in line to do the work!)

As stated, if you really want to lead a small group run, get very familiar with the trails! There are runs from fun to "Oh ****e". You decide what you want to do and go from there! The other thing I'll insist on is practicing your recovery skills! Get stuck and muddy then get out of it using safe methods! Don't know any recovery techniques? Find a couple of folks who do and practice getting stuck and unstuck! (Sounds damned fun!) Can't find anyone willing to help you out? Then here's a great DVD to start you out! http://www.bb4wa.com/products/DVD.htm Bill Burke is the authority on recovery techniques! He even shows you how to use your Hi-Lift in ways you never thought! So start getting your recovery kits together and get informed in their proper use!

Yup of course the trail leader should be someone who is experienced in wheeling, spotting, recovery, trail etiquette, safety. Ive met most of you guys and I know that that wont be problem from this group.

Someone will need to try and temper Digger's desire to drive over, into, and off of stuff

Re: Chicagoland Toyota Jamboree - Planning Dept.

I should be good to go for that weekend. Once we are closer to that date, I will give yo a definate answer. I'll still have stock tires, so I could lead the stock groups. If not, I can flick bugers....
