Retirement......

Just got off the phone with my body shop. Estimated damages are over $10K! My parts should be in by the end of the week and I hopefully should have it back by early May.

My FJC is officially retired. I'll still go on outings and runs but with the beater FJ62.

Re: Retirement......

I don't understand. Don't you enjoy driving your FJ? I know you damaged it, but does that mean you'll damage it the next time you go out.

My wife laments the desert pinstriping on my rig. I tell her, I enjoyed the experiences that resulted in scratches.

Re: Retirement......

The fun started here on page 6...Badlands was SOLD! Please Ckeck in for 03/22 Run

Don't get me wrong, I love my FJC and will be holding on to it for sometime! My reasoning a couple months before this incident was to get a "beater" rig to better suit my maniacal risk taking off-road adventures. If the 62 got damaged it wouldn't be a problem.

The FJC is still pretty much my baby. I think I can wait a couple more years and un-retire it. In the meantime the 62 gets its turn in my grubby hands.

Re: Retirement......

Check your PM's Effjae. I'd prefer to address your comments there than in public.

Re: Retirement......

Thanks!
I emailed Carl at Outback Offroad and am checking into his exo-skeleton. He was interested in doing an FJC and I offered him my rig as a test dummy. I have the FJ62 up and around so it's no big deal going without my FJC. Depending on what he wants to do and how much he wants, I just might unretire it before I know it!

Re: Retirement......

Phil,

One way or another, I know that we will see you pushing the limits on the trail. I dont care whether it is the FJC or the 62, I just love wheeling with ya! Sorry to hear such an extensive repair is necessary for the cruiser. Im surprised insurance didnt try to total it. It SUCKS being without your rig, (trust me i know) but at least you have a worthy alternative! Hope your hand feels better, and hope to see you soon!
