Toyota why are you making it so hard to find a FJ CRUISER???

Toyota isn't making the FJ fast enough and the dealerships are lying to future customers about when they will get their FJ!!!! This is really CRAZY, the worst thing about all of this seems to be the dealerships who do have the FJs are so over optioning. That's just as BAD. Although I've had my FJ since March, my friend has been given the run around by waiting on his order and started looking at other dealership to find over optioned FJs with outrageous prices!!!! This is all BS.

There were only gonna be around 46,000 from the beginning. Toyota is not interested in flooding the market with this vehicle.

How much advertising have you guys seen to push these off the lots?

If your friend broadens his search area a little, he can get the vehicle he wants

The FJ is a niche market vehicle. It's not supposed to be as easy to get as a Camry which does two things. Creates demand and gets mainly enthusiests to purchase them. Two things that Toyota wants.

If you or your friend doesn't want an over optioned FJ, take a road trip or get a one way ticket and go to the closest dealer with what you want and drive it home.

Re: Toyota why are you making it so hard to find a FJ CRUISER???

My situation was the same. I ordered my FJ May 6. I was told the "six to eight weeks" that seems to be what everyone else is hearing. They never took my deposit. It was a cc over the phone. At the end of May, my salesperson called and said they had found two one blue and one silver. I picked the silver. I then asked them to give me a ETA. I called the manager at the Toyota dealership to find out the status last Friday. The manager told me my FJ was in the build phase and it would be six to eight weeks from now. I immediated contact my salesperson, and asked if he had any FJ MTs on the lot. He had one that someone had just backed out on, and it was not in inventory yet. I ran down there and grabbed it. Mine is a little more basic, but with what I saved I am adding the other options for cheaper then they would have. Thanks to this site. Anyways while at the dealership, I must say I notice the mention of who had received their's. They were all bankers, all of the Toyota managers, and family members. I would really suggest looking around and being open with the options if someone really wants a FJ.

a little bit more each week! Saw one last night advertising the "summer whatever event," and they had every Toyota and also had the FJ saying "come check out the radically-styled all new FJ Cruiser," and it's sort of spinning on a giant turntable....

The options part of your post is correct "BS". I couldn't agree more. In regards to the "availability"... RoverGMM is correct in regards to the amount of FJ's made this inagurall "return" year (46,000). The only reason they're difficult to purchase? They're an exclusive "first year" vehicle (return of the FJ). First come, first served type of mentality. Makes it all the better for those of us that have our FJ's. I purchased mine fully loaded for $29,950 (before T&L). The exact same FJ as mine on a lot in L.A. is going for $35,000 now. That's a pretty cool increase! I'm sure that Toyota will be making a larger amount of 2008's considering the demand and popularity of the FJ.

Close to 20,000 FJ Cruisers have been sold so far, this includes June also.

The lack of availability will in the short run help us maintain value, kind of like the situation that Harley Davidson enjoyed all those years manipulating supply and demand.

Hey MissFJ do I dare ask about the Deerlick Car Wash?
