Re: Trailteam at the Badlands on 7/5 & 7/6?

See you all on the sixth. I signed up for the 2pm run. I plan on getting there well before noon and getting out and about the badlands. For all of those on the fence I have wheeled the badlands twice totally stock without issue. It is a great time. I will be bringing some ride alongs with me too!!

PhilC- Jeff is registered but got some bad news while his 4Runner was at the shop getting prepped for CO. His tranny is SHOT! Looks like he may be riding shotgun for this one. Too bad, if anyone needs a shakedown run before CO it's him.

See you all there!

We ran the Trail Team trucks totally stock the entire first year including a weekend at the Badlands. GOISU is right, bring out your truck and hone your skills!

We need a flag for the badlands right? If so how do you gals and guys mount it on your fj's. Sorry for the stupid question.

Yes, you must have a flag. I think they're under $20. We usually mount them to the ARB bumper where the pre-drilled hole is. If you have a stock truck, the simplest place to mount it is to the spare using zip ties. Bring long ones and a few spares because the trees there like to eat these flags.

There are a lot of ATV's out there. Please know to watch for them because many of these riders are young kids who haven't learned to look both ways. The main road across the park also criss-cross ATV trails and they come at you from all sides.

Actually a very GOOD question - for us stock bumper people.

As I understand it the flag must be 2 feet over the top of your rig and can be mounted on the front or back. My dune flag is too tall for trees so I am using a friend's flag (SANDVIPR) but it is basically a bike flag if you want to save some money.

I quick made a bracket last year for the Sliver Lake Dunes until I get something further - it has been on there over a year now...!! Sorry for the cheap camera phone pics.

I used existing holes on the radiator support. It is easy to access if you remove the grill. Once I take it out I will weld a nut on the bottom. I added a tennis ball on it in case it hits the grill and added one underneath the bracket if you care if the bumper gets a little scuffed up.

Re: Trailteam at the Badlands on 7/5 & 7/6?

Hey all,

I'll be attending! Coming from about 20 minutes north of Detroit.
My FJ is only two weeks old, and this will be it's maiden off-road voyage!!! The last time I did any true wheeling was about 20 years ago. I can't wait to try out the FJ off-road. I think i'll be camping as well. Does anyone know if the campground at Badlands has any room left? If they will allow two tents on a site I would be willing to split camping costs with someone. I hope the stock Dunlops are up to the task!
I can't wait till next weekend to put some faces with names on the forum.
See everyone there!

P.S. Digger, i'm interested in links. What do you need from me?

I am planning on camping there - I may just sleep in the FJ! I didn't get a site yet but as I understand it is usually pretty open.
