Question Vents ALWAYS Blow Air

Even if I turn my fan knob to OFF, the vents are always still blowing air. This is true especially when I have it set to just the upper vents (not the floor, or the defroster).

If I am on the highway, and have the upper vents selected and the fan set to OFF, the vents blow actually really quite hard.

Anyone else have this issue? Is there anyway to fix it besides manually closing all of the vents?

My Scion xB was like that, haven't noticed it in the FJ. In the xB it mattered if I had the air to cycle cabin air or grab it from the inside (whatever you want to call that button). I'd try messing with that, and see if that makes a difference.

All Toyota`s are like this. If you want Air off completely, you need to push button for air source (cabin or outside). But, that button does not stay on permanently with some of the vent settings.

If you want it to stay on, hold it for a few seconds. That should do the trick.

It is like that to allow some air in to the cabin to prevent it from becomming stale.

Also keeps fumes from building up. My trick is to switch it to defrost while the fan is on, then turn the fan off, this way you don't feel it blowing at you but it still circulates.

Hmm maybe they changed that for later models. I have an '08 and it will stay on until I turn the engine off. It resets itself the next time I start it up...

There's always duct tape.
