Re: oil change

I'm doing my oil change today (just did all six zerks two days ago) - will let you know if I'll be going the full 7 quarts, using the dipstick...

EDIT: Checked my sheets, I did use the full 7 quarts during my last oil change; I drive a 2010 TTSE.

Re: oil change

Okay, it's been an hour or so after warming the engine up, and the oil's still dripping out.

One thing - I recommend that you get a Fumoto Valve. Instead of the usual bolt plugging into the oil pan, you have a tiny brass faucet. Saves the hassle of getting you and your tools bathed in oil, and you never have to replace any oil pan gaskets with each oil change (well, the oil filters need gaskets, but they're all included with the replacement filters). Mine has the nipple on it, but in retrospect the one without the nipple would probably be better - I never use a hose for draining the oil.

F-103 Regular Valve

I was somewhat apprehensive as to whether the mechanism would get clogged with dirt over time - so the last time I changed my oil (and installed this valve), I wrapped it in Glad Wrap, then Scotch Tape, then Aluminum Foil.

Looks as good (and every bit as clean) as new; no patina or anything. I just noticed that it has a nice, big "Made in Japan" emblazoned on it - should go well with your very Asian truck

If you're into bashing your vehicle over rocks needlessly, this probably isn't such a good idea.
