TRD exhaust question...

How loud is it at highway speed? Annoying or subtle?

Re: TRD exhaust question...

To me it is subtle, I notice it more at lower speeds when accelerating...although I had been driving a soft top wrangler for 10 years before the FJ so everything is quieter, LOL

Re: TRD exhaust question...

I don't find that bad, I kind of wish it was a little louder

Re: TRD exhaust question...

I drove a TRD when I bought my FJ, but didnt think that the TRD was loud enough to justify the extra cost. Recently installed a Magnaflow 11226 Muffler and it sounds perfect....great bang for the buck.

Re: TRD exhaust question...

Way NOT loud. A subtle purr more than anything else. I have had Magnaflows on several other trucks - 6-bangers and 8's and the FJ TRD is in the mid to low range for noise and drone. Half the time I have my ipod cranked so I rarely notice it except for acceleration.

It's more noticable than the TRD exhaust on my '02 Tundra. It's similarly loud to the TRD I had on my '04 V8 4Runner [sold], but with out as much annoying drone -- that drone led me to modify the '04 exhaust, and go with Magnaflow instead on my '05 V8 4Runner [for sell] (which sounds the best of all of them).

I do plan to dynamat the heck out of my FJ so that will likely change the sound a bit. But, I am adding a TRD CAI and hopefully SOMEDAY a TRD SC!

Bottom line is, I think it sounds pretty good. But, it does NOT produce a V8-like sound.

Re: TRD exhaust question...

Not bad at all. I think it sounds great! I have a 6M and I LOVE the way it sounds going through the gears. I think it has a nice hum at highway speeds.
