Re: Alt. Problems

I have a big pully problem. I took mine to where i bought it and they replaced the alt pulley. They said they had to order the parts and call me. I payed no deductable. There was no paper work and i have not been called. I will now go to a different dealer in houston who has good service. In houston you cant beat mike calvert. Avoid sterling mccall. My rig sounds like a washing machine with sand in it. SUCKS!!

All the way in Virginia....and I'm still the thrasher.....Damn.....the rear diff noise won't change with rpm...only speed....the alt. is one of the best stockers I've seen...anyone burn one up yet??? no..they didn't.....clean the belts and pullies with 2 million gallons at the car wash...high preasure...if that doesn't work then it's too late and you need some pullies....Toyota has plenty of them in stock...they changed out mine twice and never had it longer then 5 hours to do it....again..good luck...Kurt
Thanks a bunch Kurt. I have washed it out twice now and still have the noise. What would you recommend to re-lube belts/pullies with? Is that necessary?
Thanks

Short of getting it clean right after the swim...not much you can do now but call the dealer and blame it on the rain...the pullies need to be replaced....they claim they replaced mine the last time with "sealed" bearing pullies....it did work but I don't see different part numbers on the invoice....so I guess my quick cleaning on the trail is working...'cause I sure didn't quit playing in the mud!!!
sorry I don't have a better answer....lube won't help...

What r u doing on the trail? Just rinsing it off with some bottled water??? And I actually went to a Jam at a Toyota dealership the same day and they had a course with lots of mud. So I won't have to blame it on the rain

Are their better pulleys ( like hardcore off road ones) that we can purchase for the FJ????

Re: Alt. Problems

More being discussed over here \/ about high pitched noises in the engine compartment.

Pulley Failure / Replacement

Seems like with the age of most of our vehicles, this is becoming more prominent.

Good luck.

Thanks, and it's funny how you say with age, because it sure does sound old making all this noise
