Re: Loose Driver's Seat

I think that not catching the rail part is a separate problem. I've had that too, but once you get it clicked in it stays put. The occasional movement felt right below the seat cushion, and accompanied by a slight clicking, involves the height adjustment mechanism, and it's that problem which my dealer says is a design flaw in all the current FJs.

Has anyone noticed that the front driver's seat has some play in it, which allows it to move up and down? I thought the bolts, holding the rail system, were loose but they weren't. Toyota dealer says ALL front driver's seats are the same, i.e. loose. Replacing the rail system would not correct this problem. They suggest I just live with it. Any one else noticed this problem?
The passenger seat is fine and solid.
The local dealer, whom I took it to, just showed me a couple new (2007) FJ's on the lot. Both of their driver's seats were like mine. Subsequently, they have no fix or intention to correct it. I did see someone's thread indicating the movement is a result of the lack of bushings around the adjustment rod that allows the seat to move slightly up and down. Sounds like it's time for "Shade Tree Mechanics" to resolve this.

Mine does the same thing. But, the seat shouldn't be moving up and down. Ask the service department to sit in one of their sales lot FJ Cruisers to see if that's really "normal."
I've got the same thing. When I slide the seat back or forward it doesn't always lock on the left side (outboard), but even after I slide around until it locks, I still have this problem.

It's annoying... every time I make a right hand turn, I feel the seat move. Every time I apply the brakes, the seat moves. I'm taking it in and they are going to fix this. I believe it's getting worse...

Re: Loose Driver's Seat

Mine moves a bit- so did my M3, my Taco and my Titan.
Funny, I am not bothered by this at all and would never waste the gas to take it to the dealer for this. Sounds like I may be the minority in this complaint though.
You may get used to it in time. Could buy aftermarket seats, I suppose.

Re: Loose Driver's Seat

Let me know, if you get any satisfaction. My seat seems to lock in the forward and back positions alright but the front edge of the seat will move slightly up and down. It's not a critical issue but one, like you say, annoying.

So, you're saying the solution to these problems is re-upholstering the seats or was this just a way for you to show off your fancy new seats? I'll bet the latter.

Re: Loose Driver's Seat

Do you guys remember the story one of the members here told where he was moving his seat and lunged back and forth to get the rail to catch only to look over at the car next to him and there were Jaw dropped at what was going on in his car! Super funny! I have a rail catch issue, but the seat is not moving once it does catch!.
