Angry Loose Driver's Seat

Has anyone noticed that the front driver's seat has some play in it, which allows it to move up and down? I thought the bolts, holding the rail system, were loose but they weren't. Toyota dealer says ALL front driver's seats are the same, i.e. loose. Replacing the rail system would not correct this problem. They suggest I just live with it. Any one else noticed this problem?
The passenger seat is fine and solid.

Re: Loose Driver's Seat

I find the it catches fine in the right rail but the left rail seems not to always fall in a slot. If I sit in the seat and shake my butt back and firth I can get it to click in and not be loose.

(How long till someone makes a comment?)

Mine does the same thing. But, the seat shouldn't be moving up and down. Ask the service department to sit in one of their sales lot FJ Cruisers to see if that's really "normal."

Re: Loose Driver's Seat

I too have the wobbling, popping, clicking, and moving seat. Cheapo Scion crap if you ask me. There's a TSB on it, I have yet to try it, perhaps this weekend to see if this is the culprit.

It's loose, and shifts sometimes going around corners. It's because of play in the mechanism that raises and lowers the seat cushion, and the dealer can't fix it. Best you could do is see if they fixed it in the '08 line and then try to get the dealer to put one of those seats in.

Re: Loose Driver's Seat

Yep. I have the same issue: the front seats don't seem to lock in the rail slots correctly. My dealer is actually looking at it right now. I'll keep you posted when I hear back from them.

It shouldn't move up and down- That is a problem in the height adjustment mechanism. I would talk to the dealer again and ask to sit in one of the FJ's on the lot and compare- I dont have this problem in mine- I have four wheeled it and the seat gets moved a lot as my wife and I share it and she's 5' 7" and I'm 6'2" and we haven't noticed any up and down movement after we adjust it. We do get that sliding effect because it is not locked in for the front to back adjustment- but that is easily fixed by pushing the seat until it locks.

Re: Loose Driver's Seat

Mine seems OK for now, but I have only had it for 2 weeks and 1000 miles. I'll keep an eye on it, though.

I normally have something stupid to say.....
But this time ...I also have the right side catch fine , and need to use a "Humping" or "Thrusting Pelvic Motion " to get the left one aligned with the right one.....Ive always had this problem.
