Man i cant catch a break. Comming home just now, I was doing about 65 mph and applied the brakes and got the classic shimmy of the steering wheel. It has to be warped rotors. Man i have not even changed the original brakes. That on top of the pulleys and the chirping tranny i am starting to wonder whats next. Anyone else have this problem?

Toyota makes really solid brakes...would be surprised as heck if the rotors are in fact warped. Has that been confirmed?
No sir. Just a classic symptom. I hit the brakes at a good speed and the rig shudders and the steering wheel shimmys. I was just bragging the other day that my rig has the best brakes i have ever had on a vehical.

If it's replicable then I would agree it's classic. If it was just the one occurence so far I would put it down to a bad spot of road.

Great point. Its not something i would post if i was not pretty sure. I had about 5 more miles to go and it did it again. Hard braking make it worse and very light brakeing made it much less obvious. I will check for obvious stuff that i might have missed today. But i am pretty sure its rotor run out. I think thats the term. I really only posted this to see if anyone else had this issue yet.

I have eaten my share of rotors on other vehicles, but I wonder if this might be something else. Sometimes a wheel balance will help. I just have not heard of this with the FJ-especially a TX FJ.
If you told me that you pulled a trailer through the mountains a lot, I would be more concerned.
After you take it in, be sure to give us follow up. I had an old 100 series that ATE rotors-hope Toyota didn't achieve this retro feature too!
I have had the same problem actually, I just thought that it was me. I get it mostly when I'm driving down from our mountain house, typically they are at operating temp., not hot in the slightest. My land rover had this same problem. Let me know if you take it to the dealer and find anything else out.

I've had it with most of my cars at some point. Hard braking plus metallic pads is always what I put it down too. Around 30-40k miles I usually get the rotors turned (which doesn't always 100% cure it). But I would have hoped the big disks on the FJ would be resistant to it.
