alright, i encountered this sort of problem when i reuphostered a bug with vinyl interior. the windows would get coated with an oily residue when it got really hot.. as if the vinyl was 'sweating'.
now, its been extremely hot here the last week, and now the inside of my windows with my FJ have been fogging/oiling up. i can only use a dry towel to remove for a little bit. comes right back the next week. and if i use windex, it gets this white greasiness to the window, and makes it worse. when the sun is setting or headlights hit the windows i get a super glare, really annoying.
anyone else have this issue?? is it normal?? and, lastly, is there any kind of window cleaner that will keep this stuff off??
btw i have nothing in the FJ that this stuff is coming from.
I think it is probably the outgassing of the vinyl. Just keep cleaning it.
Usually scrubbing gets rid of most of it but watch the tint
I have the same thing with my daughter's BMW,...It's an 88 and still doing it...seems to not stop with age. Isoporyl alcohol seems to remove it from the windows. Anybody found a solution????

It's actually good that it is still happening. It is usually the plasticizers that are outgassing. Once those are gone the plastic gets brittle and falls apart.
so what happened? did you get it clean? did you use the air conditioner? did you get some beers?
yeah, windows are clean. i used simple green... who would have guessed, that stuff will clean anything. next time it happens i will try the other methods though.
no, but i did buy 2 twenty inch fans from walmart for $20 each.. they are insanely powerful.
