Random Airbag Light..?

Just wondering if anyone out there knew why my airbag light came on randomly this week.
I haven't done anything to modify my FJ in months and have no idea why this would happen. I also would love to save a trip to the dealer.
Any help would be great appreciated.

Thanks,
Loren

Re: Random Airbag Light..?

driver's or passenger's.

the passenger's seems to have a mind of its own.

the driver's is more problematic, usually some cpu fault.

Re: Random Airbag Light..?

that's probably something the dealer would have to see. Its not worth risking your safety over. You might be able to check out one of those OBD readers from autozone to see if any codes show up on there, but into the dealer it should go.

Re: Random Airbag Light..?

My passenger air bag warning comes on at least 3-4 times a week. When I take it in for its 5K oil change I will be having it checked out.

Re: Random Airbag Light..?

the passenger airbag light will come on if you place some object in the passenger seat. The Occupant Classifcation System will think a person is sitting in the passenger seat.

Re: Random Airbag Light..?

it's something like 30/40 pounds to make the passenger light blink...my bookbag set it off one time..that's when you know you have too much homework.

Re: Random Airbag Light..?

i would take it in. an airbag light is not something you should take lightly. just think of what were to happen if your airbags went off for no reason. or if you got into a really bad accident and they didnt go off.

take it in asap!

Re: Random Airbag Light..?

Thanks for all the replies. Its the driver's side airbag.
Makes me totally wonder what happened.
I guess my only peace of mind now will come from the fact that my ARB allows me to plow through almost anything. I guess it's a trip to the dealer for me.

Thanks again for the replies.
