Application is more for optimizing one direction of turn, left which is why oval track racers use this. By shifting the weight either to the RF or LR, you'll change the left turn characteristics. As the X-weight percentage increases over 50%, you'll get a push/understeer while if you go less then 50%, you'll get a loose/oversteer condition.
If you were doing an oval track that turned to the right, you would adjust the LF and RR weights to optimize.
For cars (street, road course, etc) that turn both left and right it is imperative that the X-weight is set as close to 50%.
FWIW this is also known as "wedge" in the roundy-round world.
Back when I was moving around in the trucking world we used to see the scale units now and then at mobile weigh scales (Department of Transport). They would lay trhem out on the pavement and have trucks ride up onto them in order to get readings per axle......Very cool stuff.

Thanks for all that info, it is indeed very useful for those who concern with the weight and how best to come up with ideal balance. I use to strip the whole truck to stock condition and weight every item I put on the truck, it sure goes up fast and find out the best way to balance it is, keep the passenger limit to only two that way you never leave the essentials behind.
Very cool info! 400 pounds more in one corner than the opposite... yikes!
I think that's why Toyota made VSC standard on the FJ. That's ~10% of the total weight of the vehicle. If the vehicle gets squirrelly, that's almost an invitation to flip it.
