Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

Thanks. I looked at that site and they are really proud of them. $105 for the Hi-Lift mount. Looks like the best option for the license would be 2 perpedicular mounts. Wonder what's cheaper a ticket or $100 in hardware ...

Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

Luke's prices have gone up a bit, could be due to the rise of aluminum.
However I also own a 2nd set of mounts for the rear with the QuickFists on them, and anything Luke makes is top notch quality.

Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

Update...

I received my Hi-Lift Mounts from Demello and was finally able to source that Trimax Spare Tire Lock. I went to 4WheelParts (ugh) and they sent me to Pep Boys. Then Pep Boys tried to sell me "The Club" so I all but gave up. I was browsing Central 4 Wheel Drive in Rocklin, Ca and found the lock on the shelf, I guess it was the last one, and they have been trying to get rid of it for years. . . I picked it up for $13.

Installed everything today, it looks great, I will post pics as soon as I can find my digital camera....

We don't have a roof rack, so we mounted ours in the FJ, below back seat. Search: sky dirt sky dirt thread.

I really, really like this idea.
PROS:keeps it out of the elements. easy to access. cheap.

CONS: can't fold down back seat (i like to bring my golden retriever offroad (he does to), if hi lift gets dirty then so does inside of FJ (i like to keep the inside clean at least ) It looks cooler on the roof rack. footroom?

Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

I made my own set of brackets on the factory rack using some u-bolts and a piece of flat bar. I'm not sure if it was worth it or not... After some criticism on the forums, I'm paranoid that the thing's gonna snap with any significant force... But, on another note, I used a bicycle seat lock from REI. I can use a small padlock to keep it secure. Anything beats nothing. Locks are only protection against an honest thief.

Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

This is where I mount mine when playing in Moab. I'll include some more for when I'm local and need a bit more security. BTW, It's an ARB full roof rack and the mount transfers to several places on the rack.

Built the Hi-Lift mounts for about $30, not including about $15 more for R&D. They're as good as anything on the market, very versatile and don't look too bad at all!

Cheers,

Mike
