Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

If you're lifted at all, or plan to lift, go ahead and get the 60", you'll need it.

Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

Don't forget the airbag jacks. Works great, very light, takes limited of space, works good on soft surfaces such as sand, marshland etc. Just store it flat in a bag. Disadvantage is that you need your engine going.

Could you two post up some pics of those clamps when you get them on. Would really like to see the end result.

brgds,
They don't work so good for winching, clamping, or spreading either

Mounted across the OEM rack - forward with FourTreks aluminum mounts. Secured with a cable and 2 heavy duty Kryptonite locks.

Picked up a couple. A little hesitant as I haven't seen any pictures of them actually mounted to a OEM rack, but for the price it's worth the gamble (unless of course the thing fails and comes crashing down) I figure with the right cable lock, you should be able to mitigate against utter catastrophe.

I'll post pictures when I get mine up there.

Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

Well, I'm not going to have time for a while to actually mount the jack and take pictures, but here's the next best thing.

...I did attach one of the mounts to my rack by itself and was pleased. It might be my imagination, but I'm thinking my OEM rack tubes might not be perfectly round. The mounts seem to fit horizontally, but not veritcally. Stange. I'm sure I could bolt them down and force them on either way as the difference was slight.

Regarding the quality of the product...this being the only mount I've inspected thus far, I would say they are just fine, particularly for $10 each. You'll notice in the pictures that the powder coat is a little scuffed in one place. Also, one of the two mounts is very slightly misaligned when bolted down (you can't see it with the naked eye, but you can feel it). I'm confident that the aluminum tubes will have adequate flex to accommodate this small imperfection.

Here's a question (2 actually)...how tight do you clamp these down and is there any way to prevent scratching the powder coating on the FJ roof rack when using such mounts?

Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

i just got the same clamps today from ebay..i was very please with the craftmanship..although there is a spot or 2 of the powder coat not pristine..

i showed them to a customer of mine today, he suggested lining the inside with some thin rubber from a tire tube etc...to make a tighter clamp and prevent rubbing..also to put some lubricant on the allen screws to keep them from rusting out..

i ordered 2 more sets...just they looked awesome for the price..
