Where do you mount your hi-lift?

I heard santa might be bringing me a hi-lift this year...

Can anyone reccomend good locking hi-lift mounts for the FJ, also where do you mount yours? I was thinking of mounting to the factory roof rack. My brother is tellng me to mount to my all-pro bumpers...

Pictures would be nice!

Demello has some great one plus he is a great guy and I think every one should buy stuff from him. He is having an auction right now that has some in with a bumper and sliders check it out The Big Idea the money is going to a great guy so place your bid.

4trek also has a nice set, But I would go with Demello

Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

Some demello Hi-Lift mounts and a small cable
lock to secure it to the rack, is what I have
seen alot of people use... strong and secure...

Mounting on the front bumper or such, makes it
easier for a theif to work, rather than up in the
open like say on the roof rack...

Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

I've got mine on the back of the roof rack..

I remember seeing a thread a few weeks ago where someone put it on the side of the rack. and the opening of the jack arm..pipe..(no clue what it's technically called) was pointed towards the front of the FJ..and therefore would whistle when you got up to speed because of the wind entering the open ended pipe. I thought that was funny..but they capped it off with something.

I think it works best on the back because it centers the weight, and doesn't really add to any drag because the 2 pipes already run across and it doesn't stick out past them very much.

Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

I have a stock roof rack and I just purchased a Hi-Lift mount from Specter Off-Road, Inc.-Landcruiser Parts & Accessories Spectre Off Road. They have 2 different mounts for the stock rack. In addition, they have an ax/shovel mount as well. SOR has some great stuff. Good luck.

Re: Where do you mount your hi-lift?

Demello mounts on my full rack:

Then on the half-rack:

But since the POS OEM rack has now failed, it's on the floor in the cargo compartment
