Alternative to Diff. Vent

I don't have any proof but my intuition and years in the repair field say it appears a bit hokey.
I don't think the factory vent is inadeaquate, but if that one pictured got torn off on the trail you could have problems.
Maybe the "ideal" set up would be a fitting like pictured and additional hose to "higher" ground and terminated with the factory vent.
The argument to be made for the factory one left alone as it is could be there is no hose to rip off, less junk routed hither to yon.

If this is mounted so that it doesn't get ripped off it would be a great idea, better than the stock for sure. When the transfer case cooled the bellows would collapse and not form enough suction to draw water through the seals. With the stock "breater" this happens and also if grime gets into the breather then it can stick open and let even greater amounts of water in. Now i don't know about anyone else but i have only had my rig for a month and it already has mud all over under it so I don't think it is a stretch at all that the factory breather could stick open.
