Battery and lighting questions

I'm new to the forum and I just picked up a trails team edition and want to begin by adding lights. I've been reading through the many posts on dual battery setups and how to wire the roof lights. My first question is if I need a dual battery setup? I will have (2) Fuego HID's and (4) Fuego halogens. Is this going to cause problems with the stock battery setup? After I finish with this upgrade Ill do the stereo and end up with (2) JL Audio amps. At that point am I drawing to many amps and run the risk of a dead battery or something?

Re: Battery and lighting questions

Hi Jesse, welcome to the forum. The HIDs are not very taxing on the battery, but the 4 halogens can. What wattage are the halogens and amps?

Re: Battery and lighting questions

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...cedDiagram.jpg I would like to wire it right so I get the best performance and have a few spots left to add other lights. Is the above linked picture a good way to wire?

I want to wire the lights like this guy did on his. Roof light wiring, inside OEM rack I like to do things right the first time even if it costs a couple bucks to do it.

Re: Battery and lighting questions

Jesse, looks like you need dual battery. You'll probably want to add more accessories later anyway. Cruiserlarry is a guru on this. Maybe give him a PM.

I am the author of both threads you mentioned. I did the bus bar setup beacuse it was a cleaner way to bring the power from the engine compartment into the interior, in my opinion.

The same wiring setup can be done without the bus bar by simply running the main power leads out to the battery as well. I also chose to put the relays inside to keep them out of the heat and weather under the hood. My way is not the "right" way, just the right way for me. Let me know if there is anything I can help with. Good luck and enjoy the project.

Stan
