I think the cracking under hard braking would be on track type use hamering the bejeezuz out of said brakes.
Some drilled rotors from a reputable company like PowerSlot would never give you a lick of trouble.
Slotted rotors or eliptical slots like on ATE brand rotors are another option to vent disc pad gasses.
Check with Tire Rack.com or the like.
I am considering such on the FJ but I think the brakes aren't lacking at the moment.
I have replaced many of "upgraded" rotors on my and customer vehicles with no ill result.
Theres possibly better ways to spend your money at the time if you havent upgraded your front coilovers to Walker Evans, etc :~}
