Double Cardan Joint?

I was up under my 2008 FJ (4x4, manual transmission) to shoot some grease in the slide yoke to see if that would get rid of my drive line noise. While I was looking around I did not see anything on either the front or rear propeller shafts that looked like the "Double Cardan Joint" describe in the service manual. Both shafts only have U-Joints at each end and the slide yoke. So far as I can tell my truck does not have the "Double Cardan Joints".

My question is: Is this correct or am I totally missing it?

Re: Double Cardan Joint?

No, you're not missing it, there aren't any. The only thing I can think of is that the u-joint pictures are generic and universal and must be used in several other Toyota service manuals.

Re: Double Cardan Joint?

Well, I guess that means there are a couple less expensive parts to replace. It also simplifies the lube routine. I wonder how much of the FSM is just "generic"? I would say I'm also glad to know I'm not crazy. However, this in no way eliminates that possibility.
