Glove Box Light

After having my FJ for about 9 months, I learned something new! I had never noticed that the dome light comes on when the engine is off, and you open the glove box.

I wish there was a dash switch to turn on the dome light, but did not want to bother running wire from the light fixture.

Has anyone tapped onto the swith in the glove box, and can you make it work when the engine is on?

Re: Glove Box Light

there is a switch on the dome light above your head.....you can turn it on and off and there is even a door setting that makes the light come on when you open the door.

Are you saying the glove box light does not come on while the truck is running?

Re: Glove Box Light

I know there is a switch on the dome light... but I would like a dash switch

There is no glove box light, but when the key is off, and glovebox opens, the dome light comes on. It does not if key is on....
go out and try it again... mine can not be the only one! Its bound to work the same!
But... on the other hand... people have been saying that I am "special" my whole life!

Re: Glove Box Light

I tried it again with the key in the ignition in off position. My light does not come on. It does come on when I shut the motor off. Maybe you opened your glove box right after you shut your rig down. If not you are truly special. It's a cool feature that I guess the first builds didn't get.

Wow the opposite happens with me, when the engine is off and I turn on the dome light the glove box opens automatically

Me thinks you started this thread one day before April fools day...good joke!
