Passenger side seat belt alarm

Ok, this morning I jumped in the wife-J and drove to the store to get a couple of gallons of bottled water. I bought the water, got back in the wife-J, placed the botles of water on the passenger seat, and proceeded to drive home. Well I got about 20 feet before the passenger side seat belt alarm went off. "Beep beep beep." Very annoying. I looked over and realized that the wife-J thought that the bottles of water were a person and that they should be belted in. So, I took the bottles off of the seat, put them on the floor board and drove home. I was wondering if there is anyway to disable the alarm, or am I out of luck when I want to drive around with something heavy on the passenger seat? Thanks for the help.

Re: Passenger side seat belt alarm

It's very easy to do. It's in the manual too. The process works for both the driver's and passenger alarm (if you do it on the driver's seat). The short of it is sit in the seat, unbuckled, key in the off position. Turn the key to the on position, and within a few seconds hold in the odometer reset button, hold it for 10 seconds, then while still holding the button buckle seatbelt. The odometer should read "on". Let the button go and press it again to cycle it to "off".

If that doesn't work...read the book...I could be off a little. You'll have to redo it anytime the battery is disconnected.

Re: Passenger side seat belt alarm

If you plan to keep the truck and always remember your seatbelt without having to be "told" then do this: Permanently disable all chimes

I did it about a year ago and have been VERY happy with the lack of noise. Have fun and take care,
