Okay what's the deal with these. I installed them on my bullbar. Last night it was a little foggy with small wisps of fog. I tried them out after adjusting them by the instructions in the manual, and I thought they made seeing harder. They actually seem to mute out the white of the headlights with that yellow colored beam. They do throw out more left to right lighting but that yellow color is much harder to see. Do they really work? do you just need to have a really foggy/snowy day to reap the benefits or is it more politely put smoking mirrors. Thanks

You may have them too high? Fog lights should be low to the ground.
At one time it was the belief that yellow helped to cut through the glare. I think that thinking has gone by the way and it's a matter of preference more than anything else. I don't really like the yellow for the same reason you mentioned. ...but fog lights should be as low to the ground as possible.

and this quote may help
Of course, the question of yellow, or amber, versus white needs to be addressed. I prefer white. Regardless of the fog lights' various types of construction, generally speaking amber or yellow fog lights become amber or yellow from coloring the lens or the reflector. This may reduce the light 15% to, in extreme cases, 50%.
I once equipped a car with amber headlights, driving lights, spot lights and fog lights. I could light up reflective signs two miles away. But from not having the full spectrum of light, a lot of darker objects simply were not as visible.
So I use white lights for their benefits the majority of the time. Some people prefer amber lights for more severe weather, and, obviously, for much less glare off of snow. But to me the disadvantages outweigh that benefits.

Dragon,
Measuring from the center of the fog to the ground is 27". The directions say walk 28 feet away and aim center of beam four inches lower which I did at 23". I swear I think they caused me eye strain trying to see them. Have you ever tried the yellow in heavy fog compared to just white lights. Is there any benefit in the yellow color to make it worth while. Thanks

See my quote in post 3
While it sounds like you adjusted them perfectly, ideally you would like to have the lights themselves lower than 27". ...but mine are higher than that Send them back for white and I think you will be happy. Just my personal preference, though.

Dragon,
Thanks for the info, good reading. I went out tonight and reajusted for the height. It made a difference, they were set out to far, better then it was but that color needs some getting use to. Thanks
