They do each have their own battery. A small battery like a watch battery but they seal the unit so they have to be replaced as a whole and not just the battery. Brand name replacement sensors run about $60 each and will work perfectly. Generic sensors can be found for about half that but may be very troublesome to get programed and working in conjunction with the internal computer.
Just had one replaced today at a Toyota dealership. Total was $250. They charged $109 for TPS. $10.09 for a fitting kit. $79.39 for labor and $16.39 for shop charge.
Luckily for me the place that installed my new tires and broke the old one is footing the bill.
Damn! I just spewed my drink all over my keyboard in a classic Ricky Ricardo move. If somebody else wasn't paying the bill I would be putting a "STOP" on my credit card.
Other forum folks: that isn't even close to right as petthesweaty suggests above.
Don't bum out. One of our local dealerships wanted $750 to install a set of Bilstein 5100's just on the front. And that was just labor.
If I told you what I told them the forum moderators would delete it.
The dealership with which I normally deal wanted $300 and they were charging a much lower price for the shocks as well. Unfortunately I have to drive about 5 miles farther and they are always so busy I have to get a $25 rental car for the evening.
Since I would have had to get a rental car at the other place it was a wash anyway.
Ouch!!! $250 !!!! Discount Tire in the Houston area would have put a new one in, installed and everything for $65!
