Re: Curious about the winch being stolen.

I really think winch theft is unlikely. Most thieves want something easy , quick, and that can be fenced. A winch just doesn't fit that. Sure, some off road guy/girl that has a deep desire for a Warn 9.5 may take the 1+ hours to remove it, but most will take the entire vehicle or go down the street and get a GM/ford p/u or Accord. A winch is just too much trouble. Just get a good vehicle alarm. Your stereo or wheels are in more danger.

Tack weld at least two of the bolts and keep it out of sight by putting a winch cover on it. Unfortunately, if the thieves are determined to steal it, they will find a way.

Also, please do yourself a favor and do not put anything in there that may injure a potential thief. If they cut themselves, they could get really mad and beat the hell out of your truck, or worse, sue you and -thanks to our justice system- win.
Ain't that the Damned Truth!!!!

May just go ahead and tack a couple of the bolts. And go figure I bought a Warn Neoprene cover that is for this winch. And being a Warn bumper too it won't go on. Since it's so big there isn't enough room on the left hand side to slide it on. I may redrill the holes and move it over an inch or so. Then tack things down.
Thanks for the suggestions folks. But I think I will steer clear of the razor wire.

Re: Curious about the winch being stolen.

I was actually wondering if that would be a problem for the Warn front bumper. The area for mounting the winch is huge which is great for the powerplant, but also great for thieves. I'm not too sure about other bumpers, but with the FabFours, it is much more difficult to get the winch out. I think you actually have to pull the bumper to get it off, but I may be wrong about that.

Re: Curious about the winch being stolen.

Not a very good pic. But with mine they would just steal the vehical. I have the Demello bumper so the winch is inside. They would have to remove the bumper to get the winch out.

Re: Curious about the winch being stolen.

I put my winch on a multi mount and it stays in the shop when I am not wheeling. 2" mount on the front, one on the back the winch can be used in both spots and is not weighing down my rig during normal driving. Of course I dont have the "cool" factor of a winch on the front all the time.
