Where to buy FJ factory hitch?

I will have a new FJ TT next week. All the ones that I've looked at do not have a hitch. If I can't get one of the dealers to install a hitch---where is a good place to get an OE hitch that will not interfere with the rear skid plate? How much trouble will it be to install and wire? I still can't believe they don't come ready to go with a hitch......thanks Mark

Re: Where to buy FJ factory hitch?

I would stick with the OEM hitch - Toyota FJ Cruiser Parts - Toyota FJ Cruiser Parts and Accessories, TRD Supercharger for 2007-2008 FJ Cruiser has good prices.

Re: Where to buy FJ factory hitch?

Definitely stick with the Toyota version. It's available from many vendors on this forum.

Here's a fantastic write-up of the install.

Re: Where to buy FJ factory hitch?

Had mine added by the dealer a week after I picked up the new 08 back in Jan. They had to order it, but once they got it, they had it installed in about an hour - less than $350 including labor.

Re: Where to buy FJ factory hitch?

if all else fails my dealer will have the hitch they are taking off of my FJ available as I specified the Toyota hitch and they put a REESE on it. Which is normally not a big deal but the Reese sits a little lower than factory...about 2 inches it appears.

Re: Where to buy FJ factory hitch?

I bought mine from TRDSparks and installed the hitch. It was fairly easy. I didn't install the wiring so I can't speak to how that goes.

Re: Where to buy FJ factory hitch?

I work for a Toyota dealer. In the service dept, our experience with hitches is you are better off with the Toyota factory hitch. We have had problems with ohter types of hitches, being installed wrong and several other problems with wiring . I think Toyota has recently lowered prices on certain items so you find a good deal . HOPE this helps and good luck Spencer

Re: Where to buy FJ factory hitch?

Thanks for all the insight. I found out about aftermarket hitches and skid plates on another site. I will be buying factory OE for a "blend" fit....Mark

I would like an All Pro rear bumper after buying a front winch bumper (which will be quick). I'll have to start saving my lunch money for quite sometime for both.....

Re: Where to buy FJ factory hitch?

Ok......I got the Toyota dealership to throw in a factory hitch and wiring. They just called me and told me that the replacement plastic piece that covers part of the hitch is silver and will not match my TT black bumper? They said that they would have to paint this piece black because all the covers are silver....I cant imagine that Toyota doesnt have a TT piece for a hitch install....... anybody ran into this problem?
