I recently put an ARB Bullbar with a T-max 10,000 lb wench on my FJ and after driving through a stream and nearly getting stuck in soft clay and water realized there are no really convienient doubling points on the bumper. The frame attachment points are hard to get to if you are buried and I didn't want to bolt somthing on that might void the warrenty and deform the bumper if I was pulling slightly off to one side. I thought if I could find a short (about 32") 20,000 cable that I could shackle to both frame attachment points then stow with the wench hook pulled up near the fairlead that it might solve the problem.
Has anyone else tried this? Who makes a short double ended cable? Does anyone see any problems that might make this a bad idea?
I have seen people just attach d-rings mount to the ARB bumper. It is kind of a pain that it is low, but i don't think you will add anything that is going to be stronger than the factory rings built into the frame.

Attaching the d-ring to the bumper will void the warranty according to the ARB rep., but it should work.

Ugh, stinker.
Two things i don't like about the ARB. No attachment points and that the one for the FJ doesn't have the rubber push protectors that the original and the safari bars have.

I have ARB on my 82 FJ 60 and I liked it a lot, but didn't notice the lack of attachment points on the FJC bumper until I installed it (and almost needed them 3 days later). I like the way it looks though.

The original ARB winch bumpers did not have rubber protectors - only the newer style Safari bars had rubber push pads. And the bumper is not reinforced to handle attachment points - impact pushes in, winches pull in, but a recovery point would pull out from the bumper, placing a stress the bumper was not designed to handle. Besides, the FJC has two welded attachment points just below the bumper, directly mounted to the frame (most secure), and easily accessible...
