Strange Noise

While on a fishing expediation this weekend in southern Ohio we found our selves on the bottom side of a step muddy slope and while making our 1st attempt there was a noise that souded almost like a rock "grinding" as the driveshaft turned. After sliding back down, looked but couldn't find any evidence of anything. 2nd attempt was a bit more productive, but the noise was still there. Noise happened in both low & hi, rear was locked & A-trac was on. 1st real time offroad. No problems after that. Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Strange Noise

It's your traction control. It's normal.

Re: Strange Noise

I agree - probably normal traction control sound. It freaked me out the first time I heard it as well!

Re: Strange Noise

In 4L, if you have an ATRAC switch on the center pod, you can disable it with the push of a button if you like.

Re: Strange Noise

Jumping in with another question, same topic... what's the beeping sound that happens sometimes when it gets a little "crazy"... is that traction control or something? It only happens for a second when I'm in 4L (i have the MT)... No ATRAC or Diff locked at the time...

Not sure what that is since it happened in 4L. If you were not in 4L, it would be the VSC kicking in. Happens very often in sandy conditions.
