Thumbs up Mounted my HiLift Jack today!!

finally had a chance to mount my hi lift today.....happy mothers day!!

i opted to use those brackets found on ebay and bought a 12in length of 1/2in threaded rod to make the extensions...also used a lock washer and wing nut on each application....

prior to bolting on the black brackets, i glued a small piece of rubber from a tire tube on the inside of each one allowing for a good grip and no scratching on the roof rack especially from the 1/2in thread stud..

the ebay brackets were $9.99 each
home depot hardware $1.29 for each bracket..
total set up = priceless...

it turned out really nice....its on there pretty tight...i was even able to mount it myself...

PS...bought a gun lock at walmart for security..fits perfect
PSS...ordered some quickfists for my axe and shovel (w/ebay brackets)

here are some pics!!

Re: Mounted my HiLift Jack today!!

That looks great. I am doing the same thing on the passenger side with the same brackets. Let us know if the brackets rotate downwards after hitting some bumps. My idea involves 2 clamps for the rear section (one on the top rail and one on the bottom) with a section of stock between them to keep the entire assembly from possibly rotating, and one clamp up front. I will post when it's built.

Re: Mounted my HiLift Jack today!!

Nice. I made some too instead of the $105 fourtreks. I used some pipe clamps at Lowes, 3/8 threaded rod cut to size, some couplers to lock the rod, wing nuts, washers(lock and standard). I think I made mine for somewhere in the range of $20-$25 and got it all at Lowes. Yours looks better though, I like the look of your clamps. I was just looking for something effective and not so pricey as I am sure you were as well.
My Hi-Lift has been on the roof for about 2 weeks now, hit some pretty good bumps, and has not rotated at all.
