Might look up "cornay CV" and their CV. Kinda similar.

I'm sure it will get into the mainstream market place someday. This manufacturer isn't giving away it's patent or it's manufacturing rights away without making some major $$$!
As with any new product after intensive testing and some big investment it will trickle into some products. Expensive at first, but if it truly does all it proclaims it will find it's way into the market on high end applications and then down. Once mass produced you and me can afford!

I got curious, so I googled Thompson and found their website. I sent them a email asking about their CV's and if there would be any off road applications and I got a response back (within a hour).
Here is what it said:
Hi Terry,
Thanks for your interest in our product.
Currently we are engineering our couplings to suit the industrial markets, e.g. cooling towers, rolling mills.
We have had feedback from 4WD enthusiasts informing us of the limited life of the current CV design you describe.
In future we may go down the avenue of accommodating the off road market.
