something shuddering

is there a good reason for the fj to shudder and shake under light acceleration from 40 to 45? it will stop if i feather the pedal but it just doesnt seem right? its a new development since the last time i was off road could it be a loose driveshaft?

Re: something shuddering

Have your torque converter checked. Were you in any deep muddy water?

A Shuddering Transmission and a Dealer (Schaumburg Toyota) Stepping Up.

It could be out of alignment, too.

Or it could be your tie rods Tie Rod Issue

Re: something shuddering

or it could be (and this happens to me every time I play in the mud) that you just need to clean the suspension of all of the rocks and debris. Take it to a high pressure car wash (do-it-yourself) and really clean out the entire front suspension area. My guess is that this is the most likely culprit.

Re: something shuddering

I have a transmission vibration that I have yet to get to the dealership to diagnose. Mine is right around 50 MPH under acceleration or steady speed, but goes away when I'm not on the go pedal or when in neutral. Dragon has already had his torque converter replaced under warranty, and that's what I think is wring with mine. Good luck with your issue and keep us informed what you find out!

Re: something shuddering

Well I hope you have better luck than me cause when that rep came out for me he basicly said "F" off and heres a bill for $6,000. Literally I went in one huge puddle and there went my tranny and trasfer case. Both sucked water into the breathers. After the new ones were installed I spent 10 bucks doing the breather mod so I would get water in them again. You never know, it could rain too hard and water might splash up and get in through the breathers LOL.
