p.s. those "people" you are referring to as being jerks and making this forum lame, you are sort of acting like one of those, just so ya know.
you're probably right on that one, but there comes a point where one just cannot tolerate the mindless "we already talked about this 2 years ago!" crap, especially when actually, it has not been talked about. It probably would not have bothered me except for the reference that if someone can't figure out how to search on the internet, that they can't splice wires.

Re: 09 VSC Switch in an 07???

Sorry you don't get it; good luck with the mod

I won't bother replying to the "tiny brain" comment, but I will not that my brain comprehends that the 09 has a different computer and if you want to "adapt that technology" you need to swap out the computer on the 07 OR do the hack

If you find some different way to do it, by all means PLEASE come back and share your wisdom with us; I'm too stupid to understand this new fangled 09 switch technology; I sure hope someone figures out how this momentary flux capacitor switch works

Are you sure? Do you have one? Have you taken it apart? Toyota has had traction control disable in other models over the years, so are you sure they don't have the technology already in the FJ computer from 07 and 08, just had not harnessed it to anything? Don't be such a know-it-all, when you've clearly proven that all you know is what you've read here.

The switch will not work as plug and play. 09 switch is momentary, you need a on/off switch and you have to cut into the wiring. Also the harness and computers are different. You can get it to work but it will have to be modified. I did it and it looks stock and works great.
Okay, did you do a write-up on what you did? If not, it sounds like it would be a popular one so how about it?

VSC OFF switch part no.

Ok, now that I've been helpful, can I be a bit of a jerk? if ya can't find the thread (or all the threads that point to THE thread), then the mod itself is probably too advanced....

But there you go
Please note the
It denotes a bit a humor

Please note original question:
Quote:
Anyone know if the new vsc switch will plug right into an older fj?
Answer: No.

If I had ACTUALLY been being a jerk, the post would have looked like:

Use search, you stoppid newb!
Is the technology in the computer somewhere? Who knows?!? Regardless if it does, plugging in the switch will not do it. Whether I've personally tried it or just read it on here doesn't change the fact that IT'S A SIMPLE MOMENTARY SWITCH AND NO MAGIC TRACTION CONTROL IS INSIDE THE BUTTON.

Please note I've even pointed out WHY people get upset when simple questions are asked that can be answered by a simple search; because it makes it harder for people to find information that's already there.

So, what exactly are YOU adding to the knowledge base other than asking other people to figure stuff out for you? I've tried to at least help out by pointing to places that answer the question, only to have you insult me, tell me I haven't done anything and then ask a slightly different question (all of which so far have more or less been answered already anyway)

I did not do a write up because it has been done before. If you do a search on "VSC cancel switch" you will find the thread "Install of VSC cancel switch". Go to post #148 and it will show you how it is done. The other part of this is is if you want a factory switch look you will have to change it from momentary to on/off, again search for "momentary to on/off" and you will find that answer in "VSC OFF switch part no." thread. I don't know how to post the link but it is really easy to find. You can usually find old threads with using the basic search or the advanced search functions here. Good luck

With a Simpsons quote in your sig, an FJ in your driveway, and a Cars-esque avatar, I can't be angry with you forever. Feud ended.

Ok, deal

I wish we had more control over it on the earlier models as well tho. It'd be nice to turn it off in 2wd and turn it ON while in 4Lo or whatever else we wanted... Oh, well.

Re: 09 VSC Switch in an 07???

When I removed the top left switch blank (center console) I noticd there was a wire harness attached. Could this be for the VSC cancel switch. Is it possible that it is already wired?
I have an 08. The 09's come with the VSC cancel switch that goes in the same exact location, so maybe it is prewired?
