09 VSC Switch in an 07???

Anyone know if the new vsc switch will plug right into an older fj? I know about the mod, but a plug-in would be nicer...

Re: 09 VSC Switch in an 07???

I'd be interested in knowing how the switch works in the 09. Anyone with an '09 willing to take it all apart? I wonder if it just does one of the things that have already been accomplished on this forum to disable it, or if it is a completely computer controlled option (more likely)

In which case, I'd say that you'd need the computer from the 09 to make it work...

VSC OFF switch part no.

Ok, now that I've been helpful, can I be a bit of a jerk? if ya can't find the thread (or all the threads that point to THE thread), then the mod itself is probably too advanced....

But there you go

How about you don't be a jerk, and read what people are saying. You sent a link to a mod that uses the 09 switch simply as a switch. what he was asking is can you use the switch in the way that it's used in the 09. Of which, (and what I posted about) I have yet to see a post that takes apart the 09 and figures out how it goes about disabling the VSC. Perhaps there IS a direct plug in method - maybe our computers are already designed to have a VSC off switch and we just have to find how to interface with it, which would be quite interesting.

People like you drive me crazy on forums like this. If we don't rehash topics from time to time, eventually we will run out of things to talk about and this will just become a data repository.

The switch will not work as plug and play. 09 switch is momentary, you need a on/off switch and you have to cut into the wiring. Also the harness and computers are different. You can get it to work but it will have to be modified. I did it and it looks stock and works great.

I've reread it twice now and the first post of the thread i linked still seems to answer it:

Quote:
Note that this is ONLY the switch and does NOT give you any VSC OFF capability. In order to get that in pre-2009 FJ Cruisers you'd have to do the hack and wire it up to a button somewhere. The OEM VSC OFF button only enables you to keep the nice clean OEM look.
Apparently providing the link isn't helpful enough?

The third post clearly explains that you CAN'T just plug it in and have it work the way you want as well; there is no mystery about the switch itself.

Post 8 gives you the schematic you ask for that explains how it works

People like YOU who ask without searching only make it harder for the next guy who DOES do a search and now has to wade through 30 threads all asking the same question only to get to the one with the answer

If you read even the first post of the other thread you would have had your question answered. You have to do the wiring yourself and no, it does not work like it does in the 09. The only point of buying and installing the 09 toyota switch is to have a clean install, it is NOT necessary.

Post 3 tells that the switch is momentary. Post 8 shows how the switch works as part of the hacks that we already know how to do.

Open your tiny little brain for a minute and realize that none of those things have anything to do with HOW IT WORKS ON THE 2009 MODEL and if we can adapt THAT technology to our pre-09 rigs.

Oh, hmm, yeah your best bet is to find someone with an 09 that wants to take it apart, or find the electrical schematic for the 09 and figure it out.

p.s. those "people" you are referring to as being jerks and making this forum lame, you are sort of acting like one of those, just so ya know.
