Is lift installation neccassary?

I have not done many mods or added on accessories to my previous vehciles. But the FJC just beckons for personalization. I do not have a problem with the stance of the FJC stock. I don't do any hardcore off roading, maybe on the beaches in NC or fire roads, and for the forseeable future I doubt I will even do that. So to get to my question. Do I need to install any form of lift kit or heavy duty adjustable shocks if I install a brush gaurd? I am leaning towards the Brush Gaurd by RAM, second choice is the AIRES. I can't find any specs on these to see how heavy they are. Will they put that much additional weight to the front end that it will sit lower? If so what is the best route to go here, safety, handling, economically, & still keep my warranty in tack? Although I do believe that unless it can be determined that the mod caused the defect no manufacture can deny warranty claims, however they can charge you for removal and reinstallation of said mods to do the repairs.

Re: Is lift installation neccassary?

For a simple brush guard there is absolutely NO need for any lift on your FJ. The truck will do nearly anything you ask of it, stock. As far as warranty goes, the burden of proof is on Toyota to prove the aftermarket item is responsible for damage done to warranteed items of the original vehicle. Enjoy your FJ!

Thanks , thats what I thought , but the more I read here the more I was questioning what I thought would be OK.

I hear ya. It's hard NOT to get the "Mod Bug" reading through this forum. But the fact is Toyota made a very capable truck right out of the box. Do what you want. Just try to remember what it is that you want your FJ to do for you, and procede WITH A PLAN.

Don't know that I need the Brush Gaurd and Tail Light protectors. I just think they look right on it. I really like the aftermarket bumpers but can in no way justify the cost just for show.

That is a reasonable observation. I've always been a big believer in Form Following Function. If you cannot justify the cost, then you are already on the path to saving righteous cubic yards of dough.

My FJ Cruiser came from the dealer with the OEM brush guard and it doesn't require a lift or change in suspension.
