Is anyone experincing problems with blown headlights. I've had to replace the drivers side 3 times over the last 10 months due to the low-beam being blown.
My first thought is a short but my FJ has led a sheltered life, no wrecks, offroading or add on's.
I'm always careful when I replace the bulb making sure not to touch the bulb with my bare hand.
I've had the same thing happen to me, though I haven't gone through as many. Low beam was toast on a relatively new bulb. The previous owner of my truck had one replaced according to the service history, and it was that same side. I put two of the same bulbs in again and *knock knock* they've been fine for about 8 months. The ones that have blown were the dealer "brand" and Philips. The Sylvania Xtra Vision bulbs have been fine, like I said for about 8 months.
Are your DRLs disabled?
Do you use your high beams a lot, especially switching back and forth between low and high, or flashing to pass?

Could it be that you might have accidentally touched the bulbs with your bare hands? The grease is really bad for them and can burn them out prematurely.

on original OEM bulbs on my truck....after 33,000 miles and lots of wheeling and rough use. My wifes previous vehicle had it happen and it was a faulty headlamp harness.....I am guessing you got the same thing going on. They replaced her harness and problem disappeared. No reason a bulb should blow that often...

Re: Blown Headlight 3 times in 10 months
I almost started a thread on this last week. I upgraded my stock bulbs to the Silverstar Ultra's... man those things are awesome. They are $50 a pair, and guaranteed for one year. I've blown three in both headlights now. Replaced the first under warranty. But now I have both the stockers back in with no problems.
I think that because those bulbs are considerably brighter (and the fact that I always drive with my low beams on) they just burn up quicker than the stockers, which I've had for going on two years without a problem.

My DRLs are not disabled, I do use my high beams but live out in the sticks, not meeting much traffic so I'm not having to switch high/low often.
