Other than the fact that I'm afraid of the boogy-man that just might be a great idea.
You're mostly right about the weather.
My wife and I go there every year for the first week of July, and it's usually extremely great weather (i.e. your "predictably nice weather").
However, one year (2006), it literally rained all day and all night, every day we were in town (Sat-to-Sat). It was the year we had logs floating down the river in town and houses flodded (my friend's place right on the main drag) and all that.
Anyway, I need something more reliable.
Sometimes we like to go camping in the area and on some camping trips, it would be nice to leave the actual camping gear (tent and all that goes along with it) at home.
This trip it won't be an issue though, because we have a room downtown.
Yup, I always have the camping gear on board for a trip (you just never know...), but I'm over the leaky air mattress, incline, cramped sleeping thing unless I'm really out in the middle of nowhere!
HI Fun FJCruiser People,
Camping is really fun in Colorado. Since camping in Colorado, I know what the drawstring is for at the top of the sleeping bag. It gets so cold at night during the summer. I think this year tho, we will keep the camping gear at home. We have alot of camping crap! LOL We have booked a room @ The Ouray Victorian Inn. I know most people are staying @ the Best Western, but they were all booked. Anyone else staying @ the Victorian Inn? Talk to you soon! FJsuz
I was trying to come up with a response, but I'm just a dork. :P
Lovely and accurate, indeed.
It can also be very pleasant in the night, but you're right....sometimes the difference between day-time and night-time temps can freak out those whom are just used to having it colld all the time or hot all the time.
I guess it's only when camping in the spring and fall that most folks actually realize the difference (much more-so than in the summer - when it is more regulated; generally speaking).
I absolutely LIVE to breath Colorado summersnight air! Just the right amount of clean coupled with a crisp bite that you can't forget. Camp at 12K and it only gets better.
12 months in Dallas is too long to wait! Can you guys bottle this stuff?
Ya, but there are lots of cool fossil hunting locations in your area (which I'm into).

If I could, not only would I have been hanged by now, I'd also hanged a rich billionaire.
I know man...that's why I (we) moved here.
My folks and my brother and his family live in the DFW area, and it's really cool to visit (especially going out to BMRA in my brother's Wrangler), but no thanks. I totally understand.
I had the same "not-level" issue with my '96 4Runner. I bought a piece of 10" foam and had the company cut it with a giant 10' band saw to match the contour of the cargo area. I think it was like a $100. Sheets + comforter = bed
Awesome idea! You can probably just pack everything on top of it and when you arrive, take it all out, lay out your bedding, and be sleeping in no time!
However, it was just too much fun last Saturday night on the Death Valley run with MissUphill and me making fun of Dominic teasing him about letting all the air out of my front tires trying to get my truck level.
He slept in the FJ, MissUphill and I in my tent just a few feet away giggling at his expense for a good hour.

Poor sap, tell him to innovate! Or let the air out of the tires
