Camping in Ouray

Is anyone else thinking of camping, and if so did anyone who went last year have a preference of the listed campgrounds. I have a pop-up trailer that I tow with the Fj to most of the events in So-Cal, and was thinking of bringing my own hotel.

Re: Camping in Ouray

I stayed at the KOA last year and it was nice. They other popular one was Antelope it has better view and is more rugged. So if you need showers and toilets the KOA is the place.

Still not sure if I will make it. If I go I have a piece of floor with my name on it with some others from SoCal at a hotel in town.

Re: Camping in Ouray

Just doing a search of "Ouray Colorado" and one of the official sites for the city has links to the hotels and campgrounds. There's the KOA, a bit out of town, as in too far for me to walk home at night after a couple of beers. there's one at the Amphitheater (sp?) and 4J+1+1 in town. I too need to reserve a spot. Have reservations at Box Canyon Lodge, but got a nice tent trailer a month ago. $25 a night works for me!

If you can't find the info you need PM me and I'll send you the links.

Re: Camping in Ouray

I stayed at KOA last year too. Really nice place, good hot showers.. but it looks like I willn't be able to make next year... I planned on it but it is happening the same week that we are taking the four kiddos to Grand Caymen. oh well, I'll be good with the every other year 1500 mile (each way) trip. Good luck and have fun!

Amphitheater is really nice! We camped there for this past Summit. It was great. If we weren't bringing a newborn, we would camp there again!

Re: Camping in Ouray

So.. how does one go about reserving a camping spot?

KOA seems to be getting lots of votes.. me and the co-pilot are looking for the shower angle and heck maybe some electricity.. and dare I say internet access?

Any suggestions are welcome.
