Seattle Caravan to the Summit

I'm adding to this initial post so that one thought evolves.

My son and I are driving down to Ouray from Seattle WA. I'm looking to put together a caravan along the way. How cool would it be to drive through towns along the way with FJs stretching for blocks. If you're interested let me know...

It is early so we are just now setting up our route and drive times down to the Summit.

If you check out the blog from the last trip we did you will see we are all about exploring and meeting people along the way. Anyone interested in hooking up for all or part of the adventure let us know... and if anyone knows of some fun trails let us know...

Feed back so far:
Seems like there are those who wish to motor through the night and make the trip in one day... and those who want a rest along the way. Since I'm getting too old to pull an all-nighter I've laid out an option that others are welcome to join us on... This option has day one 555 miles from Portland OR to Twin Falls ID. Day two 597 miles and we are at Ouray CO. Given gas, food and bio-breaks... these are 10 & 12 hour drive days... I've put in long days in the FJ before and it is a comfortable ride. So these two legs are not too bad.

Google Map of the route with a stop in Twin Falls, ID. http://maps.google.com/maps...&z=5&om=0

If we leave Portland July 14, we arrive in Ouray late July 15. We can certainly tailor this schedule in order to include others... However this old FJ Cruiser will need atleast one overnight along the way.

We do have to stop at some skate board parks along the way. Denver will be one stop.
Last time I looked, Denver really wasn't on the way to Ouray. I think it's a couple hundred miles away from Grand Junction, which is where the cut off to head south to Ouray is....unless you are thinking of going to Ouray a completely different route...

Re: Seattle Caravan to the Summit

Yup... Denver is the other side of hell and gone but we will probably make that a day trip since we don't have a run on Thursday... or head over there and back through Yellowstone on the way home...
