This is why and what I built my FJ for.. So I am in..
I am planning a 6 to 7 day trip from Seattle to MT (Billings) all off road. Working on the details right now and where to get gas. But it is comming along..
Having somthing with a limited # of rigs and in the local area (Region) where we already 4x4 would make it really cool...
Thank for the start of a great Idea...

Off-Road across Washington and Idaho would be most excellent !

A very intelligent mod recently suggested having a Summit Expedition or two during the year.
Since the Summit itself was created 'for the people, by the people' and has grown into what it is now all with lots of input from you, I thought I'd ask what you all think of a small expedition or two under Summit guise limited to 20-30 trucks.
What say you? I think it's an exciting idea....
Very good. Count me in!
I'm contemplating a late summer drive from colorado to alaska...

Some other considerations that could limit group size to around 10 or make 20 a tougher plan...
Graded dirt road usually mean 40mph avg speed
Two track trail can drop that to a 10-15mph avg
Fuel consumption on the trail can drop to 10-15 mpg easily for our FJC's...
that can mean with an 8am-5pm trail time with lunch and photo stops you will be looking at 7hrs max with around 100-150mile/day range. So who ever does the route planning with refueling stops need to make sure you can handle fueling 10-20 rigs in a timely manner on a nearly daily basis. If everyone brings 2 jerry cans you might be able to reduce refueling to every other day depending on trail conditions.
Comm- you will need to require CB's as family band just won't have the front to rear range for a larger group that needs to spread out due to dust. I would also recommend someone have ham in the group to reach out by repeater if needed. A Spot Global Messenger in the group would also help in case of med need.
I would recommend that you plan a Sat pm meet/camp heading out Sunday am and finishing with a Sat pm campout the next weekend. That would allow the first Sat for travel time to your remote meeting place and Sunday day return travel time to home. Thus you could include follks that are a bit away from your expedition route to join in.
Most folks can get a week off from work.
Oregon & California have the Backcountry Discovery Trails which would be nice, Arizona can the Great Western Trail, New Mex/Colorado/Wyoming/Montanta/Idaho can all do parts of the Continental Divide...There is the TransAmerica trail which is mostly a motorcycle thing but could be worked out.
Lots of great ideas and I think you could work out something really interesting for folks.

I personally think regional mini summits would be great - and I am sure we would participate and would be willing to help plan- but I still think a "National Summit" is very important - I am 1st looking forward to meeting a great group of people - but also the thrill of the adventure of going cross courty onto trails and scenery so different than home - my concern about the mini summits is the "locals" will fill the slots and other summiteers from other regions would never get a chance to try other local summits. It would be nice if X # of slots were kept open for summiteers from other lands...and see if the schedules could flow so we take advantage of being in the right place at the ideal time....like New England in fall. My 2Cents!

I have been tossing around the idea of doing the Oregon Back Country Discovery route. It's all trails or gravel, very beautiful country, and runs from the California border all the way up to the Washington border for a total of 750 miles (at 4000-6000+ feet elevation). This link will take you to a site dedicated to the route:
Because the route design is already in place and has been tested (with commercial services every 100 miles), it would make things a lot easier to plan a trip.
