Abbott got Bitten by a Snake

At this point I do not know the status of our trip to Ouray and indeed do not know if Abbott will make it through the night.

We were running him in the wash after it rained and he came back lame (we thought)

Within a few minutes he was howling in pain and holding his leg out to me.
I felt so bad that I could do nothing, he just cried and cried.

He is now in the hospital getting I.V. fluids, Morphine and antivenin.

His chances are good since he is young, healthy, and it was a leg bite. I will know by tomorrow morning, it is going to be a long night.

Abbott

Thoughts and prayers, it's tough when pets are hurting. Constant threat in Florida; I hate snakes.

Re: Abbott got Bitten by a Snake

Thank you for your kind words. He is in good hands, our close friend is a tech at the clinic, and she went in with me.
Abbott is getting the V.I.P. treatment

Re: Abbott got Bitten by a Snake

I just got off the phone, and Abbott is up and walking around (although his leg is swollen). Bloodwork is good, and he is expected to recover.

Thank you all again for your kind words and prayers. Abbott is a member of our family, not just a pet.
