Chile Challenge

Hey, is anyone going to, or want to, run the Chile Challenge in Las Cruces Feb. 18-21?

Re: Chile Challenge

This is a GREAT event. I've been to Cruces in the past and can vouch for the "extreme" trails listed in the registration.

Re: Chile Challenge

It has possibilities. Patty and I love Las Cruces we lived there for a year and a half. Is it possible to do less than every day?

I assumed from the registration form you could sign up to run whatever/whenever you want. I didn't get the impression you had to participate every day.

Sure thing George let me know what trails you want to run. I was thinkning of going out and checking out Hopping Jalapeno.

I found this link which describes the trails. Desert Trails - Trails

Re: Chile Challenge

I heard that some of the trails are EXTREME, including a 20-foot high waterfall climb. Prolly not something I want to try in the FJC, but sure fun to watch...

Wed. - Amatista Ledges
Thurs. - Dona Ana Mtns. (hard)
Fri. - Hopping Jalapeno
Sat. - Broad Canyon

Let me know what you think...I can shuffle the days and trails. I might not even get there until Wed. night.

Re: Chile Challenge

Sounds like fun. I have a work trip to San Diego scheduled around that time though. If they don't conflict, I'm probably in.

Re: Chile Challenge

Yes, some of the trails are labeled "extreme".....I wouldn't recommend ANY FJC go on those without a SFA and LOTS of mods. The hard ones are also likely beyond the scope of most on this board. Follow the requirements listed in the sign up sheet and you should be okay.

I've done Tabasco Twister, Habanero Falls, Rocotillo Rapids and Patzacuro's Revenge (or something like that). I should preface by saying we did it in the 2001 Warn National Rock Crawling Championship so, it could have greatly changed. I'd love to go back but I have friends that go to the Chile Challenge regularly and they said February is COLD. If funds allow, I'd like to go in March or April this year....but I'll have to wait and see.

Sean
