Here are ten things we have learned in the week we've been here (we arrived last Sunday night):
1. There are many more FJ's per capita here than in the Seattle area - lots more. It's a beautiful sight to see.
Ya there are a lot here. I saw 5 within 1/2 mile of leaving work last week
2. Unloading an ABF trailer with 1000sqft of junk with only your wife - after being at 5368ft for only a couple of days - will wear your ass out, and fast. It was like the first day of snowboarding season, except at home.
Take it easy for a while. I've found that a beer break helps.
3. There are more Walgreen's here than I've ever seen in my entire life.
And half the store is the booze dept.
4. Beautiful sunsets every single night. Amazing.
Yep, just wait till there's a fire out there too. The smoke adds a nice color to the sunset.
5. Beautiful sunrises over the mountains (not to mention beautiful mountains).
X2
6. It's against the law to skateboard in an arroyo, which is probably good because I haven't been on one in quite a few years, but boy is it tempting...
Flash floods will get ya. Stay out of the arroyos.
7. Our whippet's paws are way, way too wussie right now to go trotting around in the brush. We went off the path at the park and realized quickly this was a very bad idea until she can toughen 'em up. We're learning!
My dog always got goat heads stuck in her paws. She would stop and hold up her paw for me to fix. At times I step on one that I tracked inside my house. That will wake you up stumbling out for a water at 2AM.
8. The tortilla aisle and the frozen Mexican food aisle at the grocery store are HUGE compared to Seattle. Danica said it's like the cooking oil aisle at stores in New Orleans.
NM has an official state question. "Red or green", as in what color chili do you want your food smothered in.
9. The people here are incredibly nice. Not over-courteous nice, but genuine. Our neighbor across the street brought us homemade chicken noodle soup the night we unloaded the truck, and our next door neighbor offered up his pickup to run our workbench from the ABF trailer around the back of the house to the garage. We noticed this one our other trips here before our move, but these types of acts really drive it home.
Glad you got some good people around you.
10. New Mexico RULES! We already knew this, too, but we're just tickled finally be here, our new home.
I know I'm glad to live in New Mexico.
Hope to get settled and be able to go on a run with ya'll soon!
