Water Crossing Depth?

Just picked up my Army Grn FJ New years Eve. Spent first weekend at desert. Outstanding rig!! Does anyone know how deep a stock 4X4 AT rig can go in stream/river crossings?

Re: Water Crossing Depth?

Look in your passenger side front wheel well. In the top/front, you'll see a louvered vent - that's where the intake pulls outside air from (mostly). You don't wanna go in water much higher than that with a stock FJ.

Re: Water Crossing Depth?

Do door seals hold or will I expect water thru the doors?

Re: Water Crossing Depth?

The door seals are reasonably good, but the water will make its way through eventually. For example, a few minutes (at most) would likely be OK. But, if you get stuck in a mud hole for an hour, expect to be ripping your interior apart for cleaning.

I'm going to have to disagree with this statement...anything more than 2 minutes standing still in water above the bottom of the door seal, and you will have water inside...believe, I know by experience

I said "a few minutes (at most) would likely be OK."

What is there to disagree with?

You said two minutes...I said "a few."

Re: Water Crossing Depth?

one of the mods you may want to consider is the scuba mod for the FJ Cruiser. Here is a good link "Relocating the Rear Diff Breather on an FJ Cruiser". That is as important as your air intact since it sits lower and has caused issue when FJC have gone swimming.

Before anyone writes something not so nice, we have a 'search' function on this forum that will just about answer any question you might have. You'd be surprised what has been asked, built, modified, etc on the FJ.
People here are VERY creative!

Oh, you can find the search function at the top in the dark gray bar.

Welcome!
