Several years ago, at my private Saab mechanic's urging, I had a gas kill switch installed on my 1993 Saab Turbo Convertible. (This was, after my Saab OEM alarm finally died, and was quoted $800 for a replacement). The kill switch has always worked like a charm, was inexpensive ($100) and a very effective method of automobile theft protection.
So instead of spending big bucks on an alarm for my FJ. I'd like to have someone install a kill switch in my FJ. So here's my dumb newbie question: Where do you think I can get this done? Do you think a Toyota dealer would do it? Should I look for a private shop that specializes in Japanise cars? Do you think that the FJ has been out long enough that a private shop would have the knowledge on how to do this?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions, comments, etc.

I don't think you need a kill switch for the FJ. Not sure if the US models are different, but up here in Canada, the keys are chipped and the FJ won't start if the key with the corresponding chip is not in the ignition.

I had a gas kill switch on a 69 Bronco I used to own. Worked like a charm as far as car theft goes. If they don't know it's there, they can't bypass it to start the vehicle. Auto thieves would'nt waste their time for the most part trying to start a choking vehicle on a public street or a crowded parking lot while drawing mass amounts of attention looking around under the hood for what's wrong.
I think they're a great idea, but I would suggest that Toyota wouldn't create and install it for you. Maybe I am wrong, but that sort of thing may have to be installed third party.
Let us know how it goes...

I installed one years ago in my 280Z. Simple to do. Just wire a good quality SPST switch in series in the +12v wire to the fuel pump (or fuel pump relay). Mount the switch somewhere out of sight.

Bingo. If you use the relay circuit, a little itty bitty micro switch will work. Put it up under the dash somewhere you can feel it but not see it.
