Noob mistakes

Got my FJ last month and finally got home to use it last weekend. I met some guys at a local trail area and they said they'd come help if I ran into trouble.....well, they came. Apparently it rained the day before I came home and the mud holes were a bit deep. But I made it through and around most. I have discovered I need better tires and a lift, or a winch or both. It was good that my wife was there too, she now agrees I can start modifying the toy. Does anyone know of any shows or vendor showrooms in the Georgia area so I can compare some of these new bumpers with winches and lifts?

Stock FJs are like diamonds in the rough, they both require additional refinement to truly shine. I don't know about Atlanta, but it seems the only AM bumpers widely available are the ARBs, check the Bumber Comparison thread under the 4x4 Tech section....gives you a complete rundown of whats available. Several great choices from several good shops. And I think ALL-Pro is running a sale currently.

piCruiser,

A bunch of us in and around ATL get together every few weeks and have a beer, or wrench, or wheel...you are welcome to join us. Most of us have begun the modifications already so you can see in person what some things look like. We'd be happy to see you. Check out the SE regional forum for our outings...

Re: Noob mistakes

Thanks guys. I'll try to get together with everyone soon. I've been at a customers plant in Canada for a few weeks and have missed the drinking, I mean meetings. I hope there is a date planned soon for the Atlanta area wheeling that Dan is planning.
