Newbie Poll Request...

I apparently can't start a new poll but am trying to decide on a 3" lift kit and would really like to know which one is the most popular... I have read through the many breakdowns in the Suspension section but and still very confused... I not only need one that is capable and will offer good daily driver characteristics but I also need one that is easy to install because I have never added one myself...

Is there any way to generate a poll as to which one's people installed as well as a poll on the difficulty level of each to install??

Re: Newbie Poll Request...

tell you what, the subject has been hashed out numerous times. you will be getting the same answer that everyone else has. Do a search of either the suspension forum or the 4x4/off-road tech forum and read away. there are a lot of lift threads discussing the benefits and downfalls of lifts. I will warn you though, very few answers are based on anything more that "I have this one and it is the best". It would be better to figure out how you wheel, or do not wheel, pick a price point and ask someone in a pm. Most people on the subject argueing are still looking for their keys.

Re: Newbie Poll Request...

That is part of the problem... I don't know exactly what I want it for... I want it off the ground first and foremost because right not it feels like a minivan (compared to my H3)... Beyond that I want to be able to do lots of forms of local off roading and still not sure what the local clubs and associations do... Maine woods, NH and NY mountains and Cape Cod dunes are all possibilities so probably a wider range than anything I can report specifically...

Re: Newbie Poll Request...

I can get a complete OME lift(that's springs and shocks) for $650 through FJ CRUISER OFFROAD. That is a hell of a deal to me and should suit my needs just fine.
highbeams is right, you will get a lot of mixed answers form people thinking that their lift is the best. If you want to go balls to the wall and drop a grand on an AP or Donahoe lift, then go for it. I don't have that kinda scratch and don't go off-roading much. The OME or Toytec should be a well rounded starter lift, I mean starter for the price, they are very good in their own rights. If you are going for a complete cosmetic look, go with the Revtek or a spacer lift. If you are going to jump your FJ or do high speed off-roading, go the AP or Donahoe route.

Re: Newbie Poll Request...

If you just want a lift, the Old Man Emu, or OME is one of the best systems to get. They are known for beefing up systems for the Austrailian outback. The make stuff for many marks and have a solid reputation.
if you want more, like improvement to the control arms, coil overs etc, check out All Pro or Donahoe. There is a huge price difference between Those 2. I think the All Pro system will do you quite well.
One thing I did notice while doing my rear lift, the brake lines are short, All Pro includes a set of longer ones. I would recomend a set nomatter who you use.
